(This message was added in version 6.7.0.) in /home/thepetit/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 6121Hi Nick! I spent most of my time exploring, but there were still quite a few places I didn’t get to go.
I went in winter, so Fira and Oia were really empty! Not kidding, lol. Summer will be a different case though.
]]>I’m wondering did you find enough things to do there (that you didn’t end up on the phone/computer etc)?
Since you made a friend while you were there, were there places it was easy to meet people? All images I see are of people in private pools!
Wow, that is so cool!
]]>Hi Ying! Thanks for coming by! Summer is tougher to write compared to winter, but I might put one together the next time! Meanwhile, I guess you can’t skip the waking-up-to-nurse part, but the other pointers will still be relevant. Hope this helps!
]]>Ah, a perspective like this might work better for the animal-lovers π Personally, even if I don’t love animals that much, I still don’t want to put the animal through that hike carrying me. =)
]]>Hi Brooke! The Hmong guide is only for the hiking trail, and they will be waiting at the beginning part of the trail for people entering the forests =)
]]>What time did you enter the cathedral for such beautiful light?
]]>Did you go Chiang Mai during the same period as me, ie, in March too?
]]>Hi please can I know the airbnb you stayed. Thanks in advance
]]>Most welcome! I hope you have lots of fun!
]]>Thank you Cordelia! It was definitely interesting to find out all the different policies that Bhutan has, and what we can learn from them as a different culture!
]]>Thanks Ju! I still am very far from getting enough of Bhutan myself!
]]>Hi Zvi. Honestly, I can deal with loneliness pretty well, not too sure how to describe, but there’s very little time/chances to feel lonely. It’s usually harder for the first day in a foreign city, but by day two, I’m usually more or less settled in. The most direct tip I can give you is to get a simcard, as having mobile data will help you connect to someone/something easier. The other tip would be to accept quiet time and embrace all the solo-travelling experiences as they are, and not try to define that time and space as being too.. alone. You might relook at experiences in a different, more positive way =) I hope it makes some sense to you, and all the best in adapting!
]]>Hope you had a great time on your re-visit to Bangkok, Sonny!
]]>Hi GLoria, sent you an email!
]]>I have the same wish as well, to hike to Tiger’s Nest again! π
]]>We used cash for expenses within the country most of the time, other than those pre-booked hotels and flights =)
]]>Great to hear, Gali, thank you for telling me! Hope you’ll have a very enjoyable time discovering the beauty of Bhutan! =)
]]>Nice summary article! π
]]>Hi! The photos here were mostly taken with a camera π
]]>I am ok with solo trips.. have done a few.
]]>Hi Amber! If you didn’t look out of the window, it’s not scary at all, it would feel like any other normal flights. Even if I looked out of the window, any fear all came only from the mind, because the flight was pretty amazing actually!
]]>Hi! I used Druk Asia and highly recommend it!
]]>I went with Druk Asia (highly recommended) and everything including the itinerary was pre-arranged before we set off for the trip! The travel agency will plan the recommended places into your trip. Hope this helps!
]]>Thank you Preety! I hope you experience no rain =)
]]>Thank you Jonathan! I went in January π
]]>Thanks for telling me, Angeline! I hope you and your friend will both enjoy Athens and Santorini! =)
]]>Thank you!
]]>Hi Paulette! Have sent you via email =)
]]>Hi Vita! It’s my pleasure to share these info! Hope you have a fantastic time in Bhutan! =D
]]>‘Will be visiting Bhutan solo this last week of December, that is why I’m reading and reading travelers’ posts about their journeys. Yours made me much more excited. Thank you so much for sharing a lot, from the ground temperature to the sensation, to the restrooms!
I am having a number of concerns similar to what you mentioned at the first part of this post (altitude, breathing adjustment, body fitness for the Tiger’s Nest hike, etc.). The preparations are really important, especially for a solo traveler. Nevertheless, Bhutan is a country which I really really would love to go to as well.
Thanks so much again, and looking forward to this trip!
]]>Great to hear, Theresa! All the best for your trip to Bhutan!
]]>Thanks Hilda! I only experienced flying from Singapore to Bhutan, so can’t really advise anything about flying from Kolkata. It’s a short plane ride from Kolkata to Paro though, if that will influence your decision!
]]>Thank you for coming back to my site to tell me all these, Ed! Am so happy for you both that Mt Ulriken gave you such a good time in Norway. The views were indeed breathtaking especially when the weather was co-operative! Despite the challenges I faced, up till today, I still reminisce the hike fondly =)
]]>Same here, I would never have thought I’ll be doing rafting too in Bhutan. We just happened to see some flyers randomly in Punakha, and hence went ahead with the idea. It was memorable! =D
]]>I feel so too, Teresa =D Glad they agreed to try this activity!
]]>Hope you get a chance to go Bhutan, Mayuri =)
I don’t love water-sports too especially cos I can’t swim, but this was safe and a pretty leisurely activity, with superb views Bhutan’s mountains provided!
]]>The views and easy rafting were indeed very enjoyable!
]]>It was fun! The next time you visit Bhutan, you can do this! =)
]]>My pleasure, Brian! Great to hear you’re going Bhutan solo soon, that’s really awesome. I’ll love to visit Bhutan again but as a solo traveller next time β the experience will be felt even more deeply! All the best for your trip!
]]>Thank you Brooke! Ah, I’ll love to use the AR binoculars to see the transformation β that must have been so cool!
]]>Good job on overcoming your concerns, Morwenna! As for me, the first time and first day are always pure discomfort, but it gets better the 2nd time/day!
]]>Hi Walt! Glad to hear that you find my info useful =)
As for the last question to whether my dad will want to visit Bhutan again, he will not. But hear me out. The main reasons he didn’t love Bhutan as much were because of his preferred traveling style. He enjoys good food (as in — seafood and a lot of meat). He also does not appreciate things like culture and nature. Lastly, his health and fitness level are not great, plus he got a cold in Bhutan at the beginning of the trip, so those some slopes and hikes were taxing to him. On the other hand, my mum did not share these same issues, so she’s fine.
Hope this helps!
]]>My family going to CingJing this Dec.
Can I get from you the contact of the driver you have hired? Thank you!
]]>Hi Elaine! Sent you an email with the contact π
]]>Thank you!
]]>Hi Vie! I sent you an email!
]]>Hi! I sent you an email!
]]>Thank you
]]>Hi Yanna! I sent you an email π
]]>Hi Kay! It’s pretty tough for me to tell you or anyhow just how much is enough, as there’s too many factors involved like trip duration as well as travelling style and comfort level. I’ll say, look out for the best flight deals and/or accommodation options as early as you can, then plan from there, as those will be the bulk of expenses. Food in BKK is considered very friendly to the pocket in general. Hope this helps!
]]>Thanks! I’ll recommend a night stay at Cameron Highlands if you’re heading there! =)
]]>Iβm actually not a big fan of water sports, Iβm pretty sure I would have felt the same way like you did in the beginning, but it was wonderful for sure
Love the pictures
]]>Glad to hear you appreciate my post, thanks so much for telling me, Lisa! Yeah, I wrote this because I had a hard time finding answers before I went, so hope this post would benefit others who might be holding back due to the same “first-world concerns”, lol! All the best in planning your trip if you’re heading over. For me, I can only daydream about my next trip happening soon =D
]]>Thank you for taking your time to write this, It is very informative and covers many areas (the cleaningness of toilets partially). I am still deciding if I will go to Bhutan, but it is definately on my list!
]]>Counting 3 good things that happened in the day is a good practice too! I shall try that soon and have a good night’s sleep =)
]]>Gonna do number 12 now. I use headspace too
]]>Thanks for the compliment, Cayce! Norway is a wonderful place to visit!
]]>Yes it is! I’ve held back posting many photos already, hehe.
]]>Ahh I’ll grab that Oslo visit asap! And take the NIN, whether you do it via the tour company or DIY it your way =)
]]>My pleasure, Cary!
]]>Overwhelming in a good way, resulting in me missing Norway so often! Just like you, I hope to explore Norway again.. the country’s unbelievable!
]]>Hi Megan! Glad to know they helped! I replied you in an email, please let me know if you didn’t receive it!
]]>Yay! We might even have visited the exact desert? If yes that’s really cool!
]]>It’s a must, Margarita! Totally my fave activity in Abu Dhabi, other than getting to see Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in person =)
]]>Totally, the bumpy ride was a good preview already!
Most welcome, Eva! I hope you will try this experience the next time too =)
]]>Hi Jan!
Agree! The ‘entrance’ can be a little tricky to find! I had searched blogposts to have a rough idea in my head before heading down =)
]]>we walked the campuhan ridge walk too… its a really nice walk, but the entrance was little bit difficult to find π
Cheers
Jan
It was nice to discover the animal-themed playgrounds indeed! Nice is a lovely place to explore =D
]]>The Promenade des Anglais is really a charming factor! I love just heading to that beach =)
]]>Great to hear you enjoyed the article, Mariam =)
]]>Thanks Smith! And plenty of food to enjoy π
]]>Eze Village is well worth a trip, I must say!
]]>Thanks Zarina! Hopefully your jitters are more of excitement than nervousness π And yes! The blue circular shapes are sitting areas indeed!
]]>Hi Winnie! Yep it was an early flight and we reached the hotel quite early. However they had available room for us to check in, but even if there’s no ready room, you can always deposit luggage with them while you head out =) My friend and I then walked over to Jln Hanoman to look for food and went to Clear Cafe.
As for airport transfer, I emailed the hotel to ask and they quoted me the price. All arrangements were finalized by email, paid at the hotel during checkin.
Let me know if you have further questions!
]]>Hi Zafirah! My hotel provided airport transfer free of charge and I landed at night so it was pretty dark and I didn’t have time to note anything else, oops! I met a solo traveller in Santorini and she told me she took the bus at the airport in the daytime – you might wanna check up about that and also taxi options.
As for getting around in Santorini, I either walk if it’s walking distance or take the buses at Fira. Briefly covered the transport options on this post, have a look π –> https://thepetitewanderess.com/santorini-low-season/
The transport options shd be similar by more frequent for May as I went in January which was super low-season. The crowd levels will be different though, fyi!
Let me know if you have any more questions =)
]]>Hello Denise fellow Singaporean! =D =D You are most welcome! Your friend lives in Santorini? That’s so awesome! May should be pretty good weather in Santorini from what I googled. I hope you’ll have plenty of fun in Greece!
]]>My pleasure, Leah! Try it once! Solo travel can do wonders for the soul =)
]]>Ah, I’m sorry Anna! I mostly only practise Hatha and vinyasa yoga, so I’ve never gone to find out more about ashtanga yoga in Bali! Hope you can find a good one eventually, good luck!
]]>Thanks Anna! When I read reports about people going missing and no one knows their plans, it sends me shudders. I’m also appreciating quiet meals now, especially if there’re outdoor seats =D
]]>A dog sounds like a GREAT travel companion definitely!
]]>It’s a good idea to start small and then venture from there =) You should indeed go ahead and give it a try, Ameeta =D
]]>Thanks Greta! That’s super awesome, have a lovely first solo trip!
]]>Thanks Sarah! Happy to hear that!
]]>I’ll be more than happy for you to link to my article! Thank you dear!
]]>Hi! My driver was a lady, but her husband does the same thing as her too. He did the liaising and planning with me before my trip (I also met him briefly in Taipei). They’re both polite and easygoing. Drop me an email via the Contact form if you’ll like the number to Whatsapp Call them for rates! =)
]]>Thanks Sharanya! Really happy to have you drop by! I loved reading all your Bhutan articles!
]]>Thanks too, Brooke! Your comment brought a smile to my face. Yep, we shall not get overly-commercialized in writing, ohmmmmmm.
]]>Thanks Andrea! It’s one of those posts I really had to write out! =)
]]>Totally, Vanda! On some days, I wish I can travel non-stop. On the flip side, that will also be overloading on my senses. The dilemma! =D
]]>Thank you Zoe! I’m glad you enjoyed!
]]>Thank you for telling me, Joy! I’m very happy to know that my articles are good for you =D Have a GREAT TRIP to Norway!
]]>Thanks Richelle! It is a good idea π
]]>Yes do remember! As long as you’re mentally prepared for some gloomy weather + cold temperatures, it’s totally worth it!
]]>Ah same year as me! When I was there though, my friend told me her trip didn’t feel like a “paradise location”, simply because it was wayyyy too crowded. I think it’ll only get worse in future.
]]>Thanks Leanne! Hope the best for your April trip!
]]>You’ll get there soon enough! Crowds are off-putting for me as well β I’ll choose the low season anywhere as long as the weather is not too horrid to deal with =)
]]>Just do it! =)
]]>Thanks Jordan! Not being a hot weather person β that makes the two of us! I hope to check out other Greek islands in the future too!
]]>Before this trip became confirmed, I too had wondered if I’ll ever get to Bhutan. You won’t regret! Hope your wish will come true, Eryn!
]]>Thanks for coming by, Kristen! I was really looking forward to the landing too, and got so excited that I don’t know to use hp or camera or just remember the experience with my eyes, #FirstWorldProblems indeed, lol!
]]>Sorry I missed replying, Sheena. The choice to stay at hostel dorms is a huge step you took! Hope you had a great time!
]]>Thanks Claudia! Mountain sickness can strike anyone, from the young to the old, even the healthy, so the opposite is true too β I guess it’s a matter of luck and maybe other factors? You’re lucky! For me, it was difficulty inhaling deeply; for my elderly father, he gets giddy and also felt rather sick, tired and lethargic towards the end of the trip. The pills I ate were herbal pills, there are the western versions of mountain sickness pills =)
]]>Thanks Sarah! Ps: it’s actually more economical to travel in at least a group of 3, because any lesser than 3, there’ll be even higher surcharges π
Best wishes, hope you can get there when you’re ready!
]]>Hi Richa! The visa can only be applied and processed by registered travel agents. We went in a group of 4 and there were no issues for our agency (DrukAsia) with our visas, so I can’t advise otherwise! I would suggest you drop an enquiry email for your chosen travel agent =)
]]>Good to hear, Lisa! My pleasure sharing. I hope you fall in love with Bhutan as much as I did too!
]]>Definitely not alone in the confusion β so was I before going. Am glad to report back on the expectations! Hope you can visit this dream destination in no time =)
]]>Great to hear my post gave you good insight! Soon, Cassie, soon! π
]]>I know right! The linen part was totally new to me before planning the trip too. Good that you can reduce accommodation costs, they’re really expensive in Stockholm!
Thanks for visiting my blog! =D
]]>Thanks so much for your comment, Divya! It’s so nice that you can freely visit Bhutan without as much procedures as the rest of the world. I’m sure you’ll get to go there soon and have a wonderful time in Bhutan!
]]>Most welcome, Frances! If you can’t find the pills, just take your time slowly to acclimatize in Bhutan. Have a superb trip! Stay warm =)
]]>Thank you for reading, babe! <3
My biggest worry about taking planes is whether I can lift my bag up to the compartment overhead, lol! As for flight anxiety, I'll say prayers in my heart before flight take-off and landing and leave the rest to fate. For hotels, leave minimum light on, cover your eyes with the mask, and maybe play some soft music to drift off to sleep, will help!
Glad you like the recommended app! The other app is Dayre but it's a mobile blogging app with public audience as default unless locking entries up with a subscription, so I prefer to document on Day One app.
]]>and I love that recommended app – looks really good!
]]>Great minds think alike indeed! =D I did some SEO check and the searches are very low, but still decided to write the post. I’m sure you have great tips for your intended post too, write it!
]]>That’s really awesome! Have a great trip ahead! =D
]]>back to NZ, but our first winter anywhere!
]]>Omg Wen! Where are you heading to? I feel so excited for you already!
]]>Most welcome, Xin! I had great fun writing it too! =)
]]>They planned the itinerary for me according to the districts that are possible for me to reach within my timeframe (for e.g. Bumthang will be too far to drive to). You can always discuss with the tour agent if you have certain districts you want to visit π
]]>Haha strategy indeed! Really amazed by the locals who’re so used to crossing with great peace of mind =X
]]>Hi Ivan! Thanks for coming to my blog! Happy to help!
When I went in January 2016, at Oia, I only found one (or at most 2) restaurant that opened for lunch, the rest were all shut. As for souvenir stores, I also didn’t see any open there, though there might be one as I saw lights coming from a little shop while waiting for sunset. Didn’t get to see closer as I was rushing to go wait for the last bus back to Oia after sunset. There’s a little minimart near the area where you wait for the bus. Oia is generally quiet during winter.
However, at Fira, at the square area (where the bus station and taxi station would be at), there would be ample eateries, convenient stores, also souvenir shops, for daytime or dinner too, so staying at Fira near the square is a good idea, unless you rent a car to get around. The cliff road from Oia to Fira has no road-lights though.
Imeroglivi is very quiet (I was there on a weekday afternoon). I saw a closed minimart, very few humans, though I did have a simple lunch of gyro at a small eatery.
If you haven’t seen, this mini guide about off-season travel in Santorini which I wrote when I got back, might provide you some insight!
https://thepetitewanderess.com/santorini-low-season/
As for Athens, I only transited at the airport and didn’t step out. Sorry I can’t answer about the crowd levels there.
Feel free to ask me anything further! π
]]>Thank you for viewing my post! =D
]]>Thanks Kiara! Looking forward to seeing your Inle post too!
]]>Thank you Susan! My pleasure =) It was nice to reminisce my experience and translate it onto my blog articles
]]>All the best Penny! I was honestly very glad to experience Myanmar when it’s still rather raw. It makes the experiences feel more authentic, even though language is definitely a big barrier!
]]>Thank you Nicola! The bus-ride was indeed memorable.. not in the best way hahaha. Wow, sunset on the lake must have been very beautiful! I was ar another part of Inle (Kakku Pagodas) already that evening for sunset =)
]]>I took them at Brahm Centre in Singapore, at Novena. They have a lot of initiatives, worth checking out =)
]]>Thanks, Brooke! Hahaha trust you on that pun! Most welcome about the earplugs β I cannot imagine choosing a coach company without knowing it will be techno music all through the night. Luckily my friend chose the right bus company!
]]>Oops sorry I missed out replying to your comment, Jenn! O.O Thanks for coming by! Norway’s been on my bucket list forever and I’m so glad I finally went there! Hope you can have your wish come true soon for this gorgeoussss country! =D
]]>The greeneries made me very happy to see too, Julie! Unforgettable =D And the fried chicken, gosh. I have NEVER eaten fried chicken that’s so fragrant, so crispy outside, and tender inside. I had them from this exact stall, 2 days in a row! Still missing it all the time now =)~~~
]]>Hi Paul! Cool! Hope you’ll have a good time observing the changes. The jammed roads over the long weekend was what threw me off for my most recent visit =\
]]>You just reminded me, I did first visit Cameron Highlands some 20 years ago though I can’t remember anything about it. ON this trip, we saw a section at the mossy forest that was closed off. It was sad β the moss was gone and it’ll take a really long time for it to grow back. The robberies are just absurd β how terrible it is to hide in forests in order to rob hikers!
The tea plantations are indeed still breathtaking =)
I heard, the way from KL to Pahang is way more dangerous due to the winding around, not to mention the motion sickness it’ll cause.
]]>Thank you Brooke! I’m very glad to hear you’ve been tempted by my post!
]]>Hiking at 8.35am indeed sounds crazy, lol. But we had only one chance (one day available to hike on our trip), and we wanted to beat the crowds & the rain forecast π Totally worth it indeed! =D
]]>Thanks Lynne! Vertically-challenged ladies unite! I’m just glad to have friends hiking with me who could give me a helping hand / shove when needed, haha!
]]>Thanks Jamie! Being a city person who never hiked much in the past, I’m especially sensitive to the what-if situations where toilets are required, lol!
]]>Yeah I know! What’s easy to others may not be always easy to the rest of us. Always do a reality check and also take precautionary measures =)
]]>Thanks Danielle! Hope you wish comes true soon!
]]>It indeed looks scarier than it actually is! Thank you Tanya for the compliments! <3
]]>The drive there via Ipoh in the state of Perak is still gorgeous – the other way, from KL through Pahang is no longer charming as the woods along the roadsides are gone.
]]>My pleasure, Ania! Honestly I had my qualms too about going Bangkok solo, but now I’ve discovered it really is ok to travel there solo! Next one might be Chiangmai, once I’ve gathered my nerves!
And yeah, that Airbnb was a great choice for me! I didn’t wanna leave!
]]>That’s very long ago, time for a revisit! =D
]]>The trains are awesome! So easy to get around downtown. I haven’t taken a river boat for many years though!
]]>Yes that’s me! The ground indeed is not flat concrete ground, but no worries, there’s no immediate danger at that spot even if I over-jump. Optical illusion π
]]>The shots near the cliff are so nice.
]]>Thanks Eryn! Choosing the right season helps, at least for me. I can’t imagine doing it in peak season. Navigating crowded restaurants is really something I don’t fancy, *gulps*. All the best for your travels!
]]>Agreeing with you, Karla, that being with someone requires a different set of skills and energy ;)) Everything in its time, that’s what I believe. Thank you for coming by. Happy travels too!
]]>Yes Darlene! It’s something like Maldives, which I still don’t have the guts to do it solo… yet. Maybe one day, maybe. Thank you for the compliment!
]]>Ooohhh, I could go on and on about doing solo trips. If you try it one day, I hope your first solo trip will be awesome as well!
]]>Our lists only keep growing ya! π I would love to see other parts of this country when I can make it too!
]]>Thanks dear! That dog made my trip better, hehe! It’s so cute that he followed me everywhere in Oia =D
]]>It will be a nice destination to enjoy with yur partner. Hope you guys get there one day =)
]]>Thanks Ashlee! I can’t imagine visiting Santorini solo in peak season though, it might be really overwhelming!
]]>Thank you dear! Picking the non-peak season helped loads ^^
]]>Yes, i totally get it that its a destination for couples and newlyweds but being by yourself is also good!
Trust me on this one, being with someone else for a long time can take its toll and some alone time is a big relief
Its the complete opposite in Asia where i loved for 2 years in Seoul. I had no choice but to eat alone and travel solo but i grew so much and am truly grateful for that.
Being restless and adventurous, I’d definitely go after what i just read! Beautifully written! Well done.
Will catch up with the series now
Happy travels!
]]>I hate cab-drivers who make getting around SOoOOooOo frustrating too, so Uber and Grab’s arrival in Bangkok are like a breath of much needed fresh air as travel methods to me. Hooray! My friend planted the idea of Swensen’s-Everyday to me in Bangkok, I only could do 3! So tempted to do the 4th and 5th.. and I discovered I put on weight in Bangkok, lol!
]]>That’s awesome, Allison! I have friends that go back like every 3 months, now I see why! Glad to fall in love with a different style of spending time in Bangkok now =)
]]>Thank you Bernadette! Yes! Helps that I’ve also ticked off many of the “should do” in Bangkok already so it’s perfectly fine. At the end of the day, it’s wonderful to be able to make peace with preferred traveling styles, because traveling can be exhausting enough! π
]]>Yay too! Sad to sad I didn’t have the guts to sit down for a meal at the street-stalls for this solo trip! I too love that massages are so much cheaper in Bangkok than SG!
]]>Thanks Julie! The part about hotel breakfast or having a kitchen is really useful for booking stays in places such as Norway! Very glad to be able to cut costs on that part, and also because hotel breakfasts in Norway seem to be usually cold food usually. I’m happy to be able to eat warm, soupy noodles for breakfast in cold weather!
]]>Thanks Brooke! It was cold enough for me, can’t imagine you visiting in winter, it must have been a challenge! Ps: Crayfish party sounds FABULOUS!
]]>Thanks so much Ruth! I was lucky to experience Stockholm in very lovely weather =D You know, I had researched quite a bit but decided I really should listen to my heart and not go all those places blindly. Glad I did!
]]>That means we visited in the same month! Great choice of season, don’t you think? π The library was indeed very pretty to see in person, I still can remember how it felt, to feel the “wow” but keep quiet cos it’s a library, lol. My Stockholm trip was too short too. Thanks Caroline! I have as much envy for your Color Factory visit in SF as well!
]]>Thanks Maria! I wouldn’t have known too, I must have come across the info somehow, which is awesome!
]]>Thanks Andy! I can never get used to NOT throwing toilet paper down the bin.. too used to Singapore, ha! Now that you mentioned, I never went to any toilets in Jiufen. The eateries there look too…. old…..
]]>Hi Mayur! I went in Sept! There’s no hot-air balloons during that month due to the weather (rain) too.
]]>The first time I threw soiled toilet paper into bin was in Jiufen!
(I still cannot get used to it too haha)
cheers, Andy
]]>Thank you Kate! Very proud to hear that as a Singaporean =D I went with an objective perspective too by imagining myself as a traveller β I loved it! So convenient and advanced in technology to boost the user experience =)
]]>Yayy Siarra! The petal element is the main design element for this terminal, but I agree with you that ALL the colors looked amazing. I had a great time discovering all the different sofa/couch styles and colors! Loveeeeeee!
]]>Thanks Shristi! Plenty of ways to get entertained at Terminal 4, though there’s also a lot of other options at the other terminals too!
Hope you’ll get to fly through T4 for your next flight! =)
]]>Great to hear, Bernadette! Landing at Changi Airport always makes me feel so much better after long flights too, I love that feeling.
]]>Can’t wait too, Vicki! Hope you’ll get to use Terminal 4 for your next flight to/from Singapore!
]]>I think it might open before the year ends! At least it was so according to our local news, by this year. All the best Christabel, I’m so excited for you too!
]]>Thanks Brooke! I’m glad I took your advice! You know, I too was plotting inside my head which airlines to keep in mind next time just so I’ll fly off from T4, whahaha
]]>Hi Gilda! The Open House previews for the public are apparently all filled up, so I guess you can only wait till the terminal officially opens then you can see it in person! Hope your wish comes true for your next trip to Singapore =)
]]>Fancy is the right word Changi Airport is one that I love to go for setting off from adventures, and for coming home to too!
]]>Great to hear, Josie! I too will never get sick of this airport, hehe. Hope your wish comes true that you’ll be flying in/out of T4 the next time you’re in Singapore!
]]>I know right, that robot was super cute! There’s more than one type of these housekeepers around, keep a lookout for it. Changi Airport has 3 terminals, with T4 launching soon and T5 still being built! It’s a fun place to explore =D
]]>I’m very happy to discover the improvements of the new terminal too! Can’t wait to fly through it!
]]>I have great memories of Changi, even after some pretty long long-haul (14 hours is definitely my tolerance zone), so good to see it gets even better.
]]>The sand was soft indeed! Loved running my feet through it, I’m glad I wore sandals!
Thank you Cayce! <3
]]>by the way, your outfit looks amazing. π
]]>Yeah! The photo is from Changi Airport Group =) It was really well taken!
]]>It was great indeed! Thanks Makenzie for coming by my blog! =D
]]>Being at the camp was pretty much an exotic experience to have! It was something I looked forward to a lot too π Thank you Claudi!
]]>Aww thanks Victoria! You’re missing nothing cos it’s always SUPER awesome to soak in the moment fully. Well I was collecting information for my blog and I’m obsessed about documentation always, so my camera was ready! π
]]>Part of me would love to see the amazing morning light, but you’re right, I think I prefer sunset & stars more! I can count on you to suggest the most exotic places always, Brooke! π If I ever return to the Middle East, it would probably be Oman first π
]]>And the bedouin camp has working, clean toilets! Impressive, I must say! About the treatment of the camels for the rides, he was holding a stick indeed. The camels wear a string harness around their faces, and he’ll pull the string upwards to indicate the camels to get up, or lightly beat the camels with the stick to indicate kneel down. Then stroll a circle with the camels. Sometimes he uses his hand to touch the camels around their necks.
]]>Thanks Marvi!
]]>Oh so it was about one month after I went! Did you use the same tour operator too? I was happy with the service and the programs π
]]>Thank you Cristina! A real Middle Eastern desert indeed sounds magical π
]]>Thank you!
]]>I saw you tweeting about blogging and I thought I’d check out your website. I really like it. Keep making great stuff!
]]>Totally! I’m so glad to be there in fantastic weather where we can see for milessssss =D
]]>Thank you Nicola! Glad you enjoyed the photos!
]]>Hiking Norway’s easiest trails made me see the #shortgirlproblems indeed, ha! And oh concerts, tell me about it, I can never see anything lol!
Wow, flipflops for waterfalls, it would be dangerous! Glad you came back safe and sound to write a post about it. Don’t try that anymore! =)
]]>I have a bad-shoes story as well, wearing havaianas flipflops to hike waterfalls… Not the best choice, I can assure! But the place was so amazing it was worth the risk (don`t try this at home!)
]]>Thank you Mellissa! I hope you have a great time in Nice! π
]]>Just like you, I was besotted by the morning light while walking to the yoga studio! Bali truly appeals in things like this – you never know what to expect π The beds were at a comfortable height and were good to sleep on, which I really appreciate whenever I travel!
Thank you for coming by!
]]>Thank you Catherine, glad you noticed that! I hope to not sugarcoat everything, to keep to my blog’s principle in providing honest value to the readers. Thanks again for coming by! =)
]]>Yep it’s pretty reasonable considering that we saved on food costs somehow, ha! Norwegian groceries are indeed expensive, they will buy and store in their freezer (like those ice-freezers we see at 7-Eleven stores in SG) and never waste food. Even for prepaid simcards, Norwegians will share among peers if people are visiting, cos everything is just too exp! These are the real-life cases I know of! The transport is a killer too.
Eating instant noodles while travelling somehow is strangely comforting, haha!
]]>It is easier than you think, and once you try it, you’ll be wondering what took you so long? But I agree it might not be for everyone =) Thank you for your vote of encouragement Cayce! It means a lot!
]]>I was thinking of that β families with kids and also the elderly, etc β when I was making a dash for the connecting flights, like, how will they manage?!? Hopefully, the airlines will have longer connections next time!
]]>Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment, Alyssa! β€ I know right, Stockholm was expensive to me too when I was there for just 2 nights, so I was mentally prepared for a more costly time in Norway. But thankfully, having flexible travel companions in Norway indeed helped to offset some costs especially for accommodation! And the 8-hour ride from Oslo to Bergen, I wished I could do that! But I just couldn’t fit Oslo into my too short trip already for that ride, so I guess I’ll have to take that train another time.
I’m wishing to return to Norway ASAP too! There’re too many places to visit! Dreaming about it everyday, hahaha!
]]>Thankfully you made it for the connecting flight! This experience made me wonder why they planned such tight connections, what if there were elderly people or families with small children, it would have been more challenging to make it. Oh well.
The airline is obligated to send the delayed luggage to wherever you are indeed. It’s nice that they sent it to your school in the mountains, but I imagine it must have been quite a big hassle for you settling it all with language problems! Well done Alaine =)
]]>I have! Am addicted to it and hope to fulfil at least one solo trip every year =D
]]>Hope you get to go soon, Agness! (ps: just don’t go during summer as I’ve heard horror stories about the crowds.) I haven’t been to Crete though!
]]>Yes it will be nerve-wracking at the beginning but I believe you have already liked your solo adventure and your solo travel experience will increase over time.
]]>Glad you liked the article, Jiahui! I have friends telling me their peers find them weird and constantly ask “Don’t you feel lonely?” and I definitely got inspired to write this post. So fun to set things right! =D
]]>Thanks Julie! Wow, you’re the real guru, solo travelling for years! I’ve only a few experiences with solo travels but it will only increase, I’m sure. The nervousness is definitely there at the beginning of trips, but the excitement kicks in soon enough and it only gets better! It’s such a luxury to explore places at our own pace.. a bliss!
]]>Glad you resonated with it!
]]>Glad you enjoyed this post, Julie! <3
]]>Thanks so much Renee! Am the opposite, I missed Trolltunga this time! Now that it’s extremely popular, I’m not sure if I wanna hike it just for that photo, ha! So many places to explore in Norway, can’t wait!
]]>Thanks Courtney! I hope you enjoy Stockholm!
]]>That makes the 2 of us for our love for Norway! Wow, it must have looked so magical during winter, right?!! Let’s both hope we can return there asap! =D
]]>Thank you Flo! I can count with 1 or 2 hands the number of times I’d hiked in my entire life ahaha, but yeah I did it for the views as well! Norway ignited a new-found interest for me, whoop whoop.
]]>Thanks so much Kathi! It’s my first time to Norway and with limited time there, I was glad the weather cooperated to let us hike, very thankful! Hope you’ll return again to Norway aw well =)
]]>10-day road trip omg it must have been SO FUN! I didn’t do Kreragbolten, heard it’s way tougher than Preikestolen. Perhaps one fine day I might be prepared for it, then I’ll do it!
]]>Thanks Alaine! Realized I prefer the lush greeneries, sound of insects and cooling air of mountains over hot beaches too!
]]>Thank you! The traffic in Dubai alone was enough to put me off driving there for sure, ha! I’ll leave it to the professionals… π
]]>Thanks Bradley for the compliment! The trip left a really deep impression on me. Hope your wish of visiting Myanmar this year comes true!
]]>Wow, Julie, and Doha Airport is hugeeee! At least you made it! You need to do some prayers for your bags before checking them in next time lololll #JustJoking. What happened when you missed your flight though? Did you have to buy a new ticket at a high price? Hope you had travel insurance. I’ve never missed flights before but it’ll be scary to think of paying atrocious prices for last-minute flights!
]]>Thanks Ainsley! The boat hotel is a cool idea indeed β a classic option only Stockholm has, I’m keeping it in my mind for my future returns too! =D
]]>Hi Joanna! Thank you for coming by! Am very happy to see your comment! I was in Stockholm for 2 days, leaving next morning on the 3rd, so I didn’t have a chance to visit the archipelagos, which was a pity! You have fun doing that, I shall save it for my next time! =) Also, I had booked a hotel room and also cancelled when I found the hostel that eventually felt like a good fit. I also didn’t try their famous cinnamon buns for fika haha I’m missing out all the must-sees and must-eats! Time passed really quickly for me in Stockholm, I might be sharing my itinerary here on my blog though.
I went Bergen and Stavanger after Stockholm β Norway is unlike any other country I’ve ever been, it’s amazing! Please stay tuned for my blogposts on Norway, I’ll try my best to catch up writing! Scandinavia has SO MUCH to offerrrrrrr I wish I can spend months just exploring there if it’s not so expensive *blushes*, and omg you’re going Iceland and Copenhagen! Enjoy your trip, definitely will be awesome!
]]>I cannot wait to get to Scandinavia! I will be going to Iceland and Norway (Oslo/Bergen/Stavenger) and a quick visit to Copenhagen? Have you visited those cities? I would love to read your blogs aout them!
Joanna
]]>Thanks Pamela Leon for coming by! Honestly, I spent much time planning possible programs to fill my itinerary and it was quite a struggle because I struck out museums like Vasa Museum, ABBA Museum, the medieval museum etc as I had no interest in them. But I went Stockholm at a good period when the cherry blossoms were in bloom in Stockholm, the ambience was really fantastic! I might share my ‘not-so-conventional’ itinerary on my blog one day =)
]]>Thank you Julie! Stockholm was a pretty place to visit =) And about the hostel, IKR! Very glad I found this hostel! Or I would have had to pay S$400+ for a room half the size somewhere else.. π
]]>Oh no! I didn’t eat meatballs in Stockholm lolll (I don’t take beef), and I didn’t go IKEA either! Not worth the time to travel down hehe.
]]>Thanks Alaine! Fun to read about the differences from a person familiar with Stockholm too! Hmm, what I did was walk past the cafes at Sodermalm and check out the menus pasted outdoors ββ mostly Swedish, so I’ll just walk on, ha! I’m the kind who just wants quick and easy efforts about meals when I travel solo, so I don’t even think about asking the staff, though all I’ve met are just very helpful and friendly staff in Stockholm =)
]]>Yep it’s in the list! I live in SEA btw =) In Singapore, I don’t really put on mosquito repellent unless there’s an area with known alert of an outbreak like dengue, but in certain SEA countries like Bali, I’ll make sure to spray it on before heading out! Mosquitoes these days can give really dangerous diseases indeed.
]]>Thanks Minna! Looking forward to your posts when you get there!
]]>Thanks Julie! If you get there, I’ll be looking forward to hearing/seeing/reading about your experiences!
]]>Thanks Agness! Myanmar can be a little tricky to plan due to language differences; I was really glad I had a few Burmese friends during my trip!
]]>Thanks Lula! Gooooo sooooonnn! =)
]]>It always makes me the most happy to read comments like yours, Ms. Travelingboots =D Thank you!
]]>Thanks so much Abbi! I’m very happy to hear that! Bagan is gorgeous so actually not much effort is required to capture its beauty π
]]>Thank you Mina for coming by and leaving a comment! Definitely visit Myanmar while it’s still kinda raw from tourism and all. I would be interested in visiting Cambodia the next time too!
]]>Thanks Alaine! I loved eating Mamee too with my siblings as kids, it was fun to act like a kid at this workshop hahhaa!
]]>I think you’ll be very touched to see this place in person too! =) I was very moved even though I’m Buddhist/Taoist.
Thanks so much for the nomination Jac! To be honest, I’ve turned down blogger awards like this for personal reasons. Let me think about it whether I’m keen to take this up.
<3
]]>Btw, am nominating you for the Bloggers Recognition Award because your travel posts are always with such eye-catching pictures! https://snugglesandkisses.net/2017/04/30/blogger-recognition-award
]]>TIA
]]>Thanks so much Agness! I can’t wait to go back to Barcelona again when it’s completed!
]]>Thank you Agness! Always great to meet a fellow yogi =) I look forward to going to this studio and possibly try others in Bali next time!
]]>Thank you Helen! Agreeing, it was really magical to see those colors!
]]>Great to hear, Charlotte! Hope you have a wonderful time in Barcelona soon!
]]>I’ve been twice and both times I MUST enter Sagrada Familia, hee. Book tickets online, sometimes they sell out for the day(s) because of crowd control. It’s not that crowded inside, plenty of space to roam around and admire it =)
Thanks for coming by, Icy!
]]>Thanks Telma! The views have been forever etched into my memory, I love the interior temple so much!
]]>It’s a pity you didn’t go in, the interior is really stunning! This cathedral must be visited again, I’m looking forward to my next trip too! =)
]]>Telma @ Blank Canvas Voyage
]]>Great! If you go, I hope you’ll enjoy the hotel too! =)
]]>It’s actually a camera mounted on a pole and it captures a scan of your irises, for future use! Thank you Kat! UAE (namely Dubai and Abu Dhabi) was pretty interesting to observe as a first-time visitor. Dune-bashing was fun at the desert safari! Grand Mosque is a must-see this lifetime =D
And yep!! That building truly reminded me of MBS when I first saw! As if my eyes were playing tricks on me lololl
]]>I really enjoyed your post! I’ve never been to the UAE but it’s pretty high on my list of places to go. I’d love to go on a desert safari and visit the Grand Mosque.
I can’t believe how much that building looks like Marina Bay Sands!!
]]>Don’t say that, Maegan =) We all start somewhere and go different places in our lives! Anyway, Popeyes was my comfort food in Abu Dhabi, glad to have it very conveniently near the apartment I stayed at. And yeah, the amount of dust on that building surprised me too, was wondering why the daylight in Abu Dhabi looks rather weird β it’s the dust and sand in the air =O
]]>Abu Dhabi was so much more low-profile compared to Dubai but the quietness of Abu Dhabi is much more preferred!
]]>When I searched for places of interest in Abu Dhabi, not many results were returned that appealed to me, other than the mosque, so you’re not alone definitely. I didn’t get to visit a museum this trip! If I ever return to UAE, it would be to other places (Oman comes recommended by others!) too =D
]]>Haaa I really wondered where everyone was at the malls, because the roads were full of cars but where’re the walking humans? Perhaps at the mosque and the beach I guess, since it wasn’t excruciatingly warm weather at the end of the year =D
]]>Abu Dhabi’s grand mosque left a really deep impression on me as well! I’m sure from 2015 to now, the city has developed much more too. =)
]]>Hi Alaine! I too feel Ubud is very charming! For this trip, I didn’t go Yoga Barn, mainly stuck to Radiantly Alive. Have you been to Yoga Barn? I heard the class can be like 50-60 people in each one!
]]>Thanks Laia! Cool that you’ll be visiting Bali! Feel free to include this for a morning or evening hike in Ubud if you have time to spare!
]]>Hi Kiara! It’s hard to not get fascinated by Bali’s charm once you get there π This place is a total gem, you described it perfectly! I totally missed finding out there’s a spa next to Karsa Cafe or I might have just made an appointment =D
]]>Thank you Sarah! It’s a really short hike – from the beginning to the end, past a village and to Karsa Cafe, it was just 2km. I took maybe an hour? That long because I was stopping constantly to snap photos as well as wait for photo opportunities :ppp
]]>That’s awesome Daphne, I’d pondered over staying in Bali for an extended period beyond the usual few days, I’m sure you’ll have many stories to share! Hmm the beginning of this hike to finishing it, to walking all the way to Karsa Cafe was merely 2km, so it’s a really short hike. I took maybe an hour? But only because I was stopping constantly to snap photos as well as wait for photo opportunities :ppp
]]>Thank you Morgan! Was so glad the weather worked out fine as it was pretty much gloomy weather in Bali during that period. I took a long time to finish walking the ridge because I had to snap so many photos as keepsake! :p
]]>Oh that’s awesome! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did! The cafe was a nice little refuge from the sun =) Thank you for swinging by my blog!
]]>Campuhan Ridge Walk was indeed lovely and serene, I felt so peaceful there! Well there’s always a next time π
]]>Thank you Josie! Indeed it was a very rejuvenating experience to have on a sunny morning!
]]>Thanks Abbi! It was a wonderful activity to do. Bali is full of interesting programs and lush nature in many places, you’ll probably be spoiled for choice when you finally make it there π
]]>Thanks Darius! Glad I specially made my morning program to be just about this hike! I hope you enjoy it the next time you visit Bali =)
]]>Hi Anna! Thanks for popping by and leaving a comment! 2 weeks of staying in Dubai, that’s a long stay! It’s awesome that you got to stay with a local and eat wonderful Indian food. I didn’t really have chances for Dubai’s local cuisine, though I tried shawarma at Abu Dhabi. Am so glad you agree with the article! I was trying to provide a more objective and balanced perspective instead of the usual over-emphasis on Dubai’s other famous side β the OTT / crazy / expensive side. All in all, it was still a different city for me to explore and learn about =)
Have a nice day!
]]>Thanks Sonja! It helped that the morning sun was beautiful that day too =D Bali is well-loved by many travellers, if you’re visiting Asia, indeed include Bali! =)
]]>Thank you! Wow! You’re based in Singapore for now, correct? The hot weather there won’t be a reason to head back to Dubai next time, cos it’s always warm weather in SG now =D
]]>Thanks Albert! Glad you enjoyed the post from your aspect as someone who experienced Dubai before. We drove our own car around in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, but I have to say, the traffic in Dubai makes one stressed, both from speed and the amount of traffic on the road =S
]]>Thanks Katie! Honestly it was easier to write about the attractions in Dubai that I liked, but decided I should paint a bigger, clearer picture too. I’m so glad you enjoyed this!
]]>Hi Winnie, I went this temple a long time ago so I can’t rem the timings, but we had hired a day driver so we weren’t too worried as he would have planned and advised accordingly. This place to me felt more of like an open area instead of just a temple, though you still need pay an entrance charge + put on the sarongs. In fact, I don’t recall even entering the interior of a temple?!? Now that you mentioned, lol. Towards the left side of the cliff, there’ll be kecak performance and crowds which continue after sunset (I left and saw it was going on). So, if you’re hiring a driver, you can check with him.
Watch out for the monkeys there though, they’re notorious for snatching dangling, unguarded items.
Ubud to Uluwatu temple is about 2 hours a drive away.
Hope this helps!
]]>If the opening hours of Uluwatu Temple is from 9am to 6pm, how are we going to stay till the sun sets?
And also, is Uluwatu Temple very far away from Ubud?
]]>Hi Cali! It must have been an interesting time to spend 6 weeks in UAE! Yeah, the opulence of Dubai definitely is interesting to see, but I feel this place may not necessarily fit everyone’s taste indeed. Once is enough for me for now.. for a long time, ha!
]]>Great to hear, Rebecca! I guess it’ll be quite a few more years before I consider visiting Dubai again. Which makes me wonder if their tourism boards had considered this before — that they only needed to draw one-time visitors, hmm.
]]>Hi Penelopi! Thanks for coming by! Yes you should write about Qatar, it will definitely draw a lot of interest! I’ve only been to Doha airport as layovers, haha, but I really like the new airport! <3
]]>Sorry Lee, I don’t know why your comment went to the Spam folder so I didnt’ see it until I unchecked from the Spam! Thank you for your comment! Dubai was a short trip for me from Abu Dhabi too. Glad to hear you enjoyed reading this article =) Happy to hear about the blog design, though I’m considering changing it some time later hohoho =D
]]>I love love love this mosque so much and truly wished I had a lot more time there. It’s also breathtaking at night from what I saw on photos. If I ever head back to Abu Dhabi, this mosque will still be in my itinerary!
]]>Thanks so much Candice, your response really means a lot especially that you’ve lived in Dubai for so long! Yeah I know what you meant, I get mildly annoyed too when I chanced upon articles sharing dramatized, untrue articles about my own city! Like those articles were written for the sake of having something written only, zZz.
Dubai isn’t for everyone, visiting once is enough for me right now =)
]]>Thank you Meghan! I know that feeling about not knowing whether we’ll love a city or not. All the best about you guys’ decision!
]]>Thanks Sandy! Yeah it’s a place to visit once just to see how different it is, but as for revisiting, I’ll think twice! I flew to UAE via Abu Dhabi though, but if I ever transit in Dubai next time, I’ll note your suggestion about the airport hotel π
]]>Thank you Jason! I just checked the hours and on Fridays, it’s open to public from 430 – 10pm. Such a pity you missed it, but a reason to come back! I had a lot of fun at the desert safari, hope you enjoyed it too!
]]>Thanks for such an informative post. I lived several years ago and had forgotten much of that!
]]>Thank you Stephanie! Indeed I spent a long time running around to see and take photos! Afterwards, it was equally tough selecting the photos to post, haha. If you’ll be heading there, rem to check if the garden’s still there, cos they’re open during a certain season only =)
]]>Hi Mike! Thanks so much for coming by and dropping a note, truly appreciated! This miracle garden is very huge in person to see, I’m glad to feature it on my site!
Have a nice weekend ahead!
]]>The first time I discovered the existence of this mosque was via Instagram too and I was besotted! The floors indoors were smooth and shiny for sure. Actually, shoes are kept on until you walk more inwards then there’ll be shoe-racks to place the shoes, so that you can walk further in and go to the main prayer (carpetted) hall. =)
]]>Thank you Kelly! I hope your wish will come true soon! This mosque is very pretty to see in person =)
]]>Ya! The place was indeed very clean and beautiful, must be the efforts of the staff! Thank you for coming by =)
]]>Thank you Urska! Honestly, it’s very hard to get a bad photo there; the place is that gorgeous!
]]>Thank you so much for the compliments, Midori! *blushes* The dress code is the most important step to go through for planning a visit (other than how to get there). It was a fun experience to put on this traditional look for the short time too!
]]>The carpet is one of the main highlights because so much effort went behind it, like a magic carpet! Actually, I’d refrained from putting too much info about the mosque as there is just a lot to shout about. The mosque must be seen in person to be believed.
You live in Dubai? Cool! I was in Dubai for a few days as well. Still not enough time though to cover all the sights!
]]>Yeah Sheikh Zayed Mosque is indeed a masterpiece! I would love to see Taj Mahal for myself one day too!
]]>Thanks so much Maartje! Agree that the color combinations are really lovely to see! Aye aye to no skinny jeans.. nothing body-hugging =)
]]>Potty princess, I like this term! I’m terrified by dirty/old/smelly toilets, it’s always a factor to consider when I choose where to visit or when to go to the toilet! >< Thank you for reading through my post! =) You live in Qatar? Ah that's awesome! I have only stopped over in Doha (the airport, because I take Qatar Airlines sometimes) twice. I hope to visit more deserts in the future too, the few hours at Abu Dhabi's desert was definitely not enough!
]]>Hi! I was there in late Jan in 2016. It snowed at one higher part of Cingjing in the afternoon , but the weather is quite unpredictable because right after that, we drove to Green Green Grasslands and the weather was sunny and cooling =)
]]>My local friend drove us to a mall that has City Mart, which is a supermarket and the currency shop is owned by that supermarket. However if you don’t have a local to bring you around, I’ll believe your best bet is the airport or banks. You can see this link here (http://www.go-myanmar.com/currency-exchange-rates-and-banks). =)
]]>Wow! I hope your trip is long enough in Myanmar to cover more places! Bagan is lovely =)
I was in Myanmar in Sept 2016 =))
]]>I wore slippers.. very casual, inexpensive ones while my girlfriend wore flip-flops like the Havaianas kind of flip-flops. I would recommend you get something easy to slip on and off and can be washed at the end of the day, because they’re going to get veryyy dirty! Don’t get pretty or bling-bling sandals or you’ll feel the ache.
As for exchanging currency, my local friend brought us to one inside a shopping mall in Yangon to exchange our Singapore dollar notes. He said you can probably change at the airport though the rates might be different. I suggest you google for travel bloggers who visit Myanmar often for more tips? Sorry I couldn’t provide better help on this!
]]>Haha that’s good to hear! I’m going at the end of February on a Geckos tour then off to Thailand – CANNOT WAIT! Your posts are making me super excited haha. When did you go?
]]>Thanks Sophie! There will constantly be many boats going up and down the lake and also many fishermen, so the Burmese will probably help one another out because it’s part of their culture and way of living! When are you going Myanmar? =)
]]>Also, can you only exchange money when you get there at say that airport? I live in Australia so I’m quite unsure about what to do money wise!!
]]>Yes yes Alice, it’s Mount Takao! Have you been? I wished I had more time on that mountain!
]]>Thank you Flo! You can try customizing one the next time too, it’s great!
Have a Happy New Year and more experiences ahead!
]]>Thank you Susanna! I prefer a balanced overview so I thought I’ll make this post one like that too π It’s fun counting the bad once we passed those ‘bad moments’ and have a good laugh over what happened =D Where do you usually hike? I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve hiked, hope to get more in touch with nature over time!
Have a happy new year and great trips ahead!
]]>My pleasure! Myanmar is lovely, have fun discovering it and enjoy the trip! =)
]]>Indeed, this place must be seen to be believed! Thanks a lot Monica! <3
]]>Thank you so much Cory! It means a lot to see your comment =) Yes! The vibrant colors available in this garden are really amazing!
]]>Thank you!
]]>Hi Afzal, honestly it’s my 3rd time in Bali and the first 2 didn’t involve yoga, but they were still interesting visits because Bali has a lot to offer =) Though I do agree that yoga in Bali is very enjoyable for a retreat away from city life =)
]]>I can’t live without yoga too =D Glad you find the post helpful! If you have more questions, feel free to ask~
]]>Hi Sarah! Thanks for coming by and dropping a comment! I hope some of the tips in the post can help you for your solo trip! It’s gonna be so exciting! =D
]]>Thanks Jess! I hope you achieve your wish soon! =D
]]>Jess | Enjoy the Adventure
]]>Thanks Sheena! Hope you can visit it soon!
]]>Thank you Sheena! Same as me! This post is backdated, from 2013 =)
]]>Sheena
]]>You have such an interesting job, Eva! =)) Thank you so much for the sweet praise, perhaps one day you’ll see this city with your own eyes! =D
]]>Thanks Tara! I think it really depends on your site theme and your objectives =)
]]>You’re welcome, Cherene! Have a great time discovering Myanmar soon! =D
]]>I feel the same too about other parts of Italy! Still too many places to explore, sigh! Good to dream first and plan though! =D
]]>Thanks, Milena! Florence’s charm is more subtle yet very stunning, hope you will see it for yourself one day π I visited Rome the same trip that I went Florence for my first time. Rome felt very special as well! I love the fountains at different places!
]]>Thank you Nadine! Please go if you have a chance! There are still areas I haven’t ventured to, will look forward to my 3rd time in the future! =)
]]>My first time to Florence was about same time as you — 9 years ago, hehe! I loved it more the 2nd time! The crowds in Florence are ok to me, it’s not that crowded at this Piazzale, or maybe because it was winter, I’m not sure.
Italy is very charming indeed! =D I can’t wait to go back to Rome again!
]]>Thanks Melai! I was really captivated by Bagan too! Next time, I hope to see its sunrises and sunsets in fine weather =)
]]>Thanks Katie! I try to provide useful content, glad to see you appreciate the effort! <3
]]>Thank you Nadine! It’s an interesting country to explore!
]]>It is! Go before travel and commercialism change things too much!
]]>Thanks, we all should be living life to the fullest:)
]]>Although there’re no pictures of me with a smiling face (lol), I’m glad you felt the joy translated through this post. Solo travel is empowering!
]]>Thank you, good to hear you’re mindfully living your life!
]]>Do share the secret too
]]>I am glad that you tend to think like me where I have made the aim of my life to enjoy every single moment to the core as well.
]]>Hi Deni! I like Bagan the most! It’s rugged yet very mesmerizing at the same time. Bagan to me is a place you fall in love with more and more over time =)
]]>Great to hear that Katy! We’re not limited by old-school ways of thought anymore, yeah!
]]>Thank you Katie! Someone commented on my other post in the site that it’s amazing there were no humans in my photos at all, ha. It was indeed that quiet! Hope this doesn’t change π
]]>Thank you Katie! It was a really last-minute trip for me so I didn’t really get to choose the season though. Depending on your travel style, will be good to check out whether it’s peak or shoulder or low season to do the solo trip! All the best!
]]>Thank you for visiting, Punita! The right timing helped heaps I believe! Low-season instead of peak season.
]]>Hi Kasia! Thanks so much for coming by! =D I wish for you that you can visit this paradise soon! <3
]]>Glad you can relate to this too Sara!
]]>You’re gonna enjoy Barcelona so much Mellissa! =)
]]>Hi Fee! Hope you do! It’s one of those most unforgettable trips ever =)
]]>Thank you Simmone! <3 Wishing for you that your dream comes true soon!
]]>Thanks Gabby! Hahaha, you’re right about no one in the photos! Well at least there was a dog.. and some cars LOL. There was one afternoon that I took a REALLY quiet walk along the road and saw all these stunning sceneries and it was just me facing them! Santorini is so breathtaking ^^
]]>Thanks Nicki! I’m looking forward to checking out more of Greece!
]]>Thanks Bethan! Hope you can go!
]]>Yes! I was so happy to put up this post of the gorgeous island!
]]>Hi Noemi! I went in winter in Jan, in low degrees and no guarantees of sunny weather (but I was there for enough days and was lucky to get some sun). There were really very few people around, in fact, the photos of Oia were in the afternoon. I could wander around on my own and get all these pictures!
]]>Thank you Christine! I hope you can visit it as soon as you can!
]]>Thank you Anisa! It’s impossible to get a bad picture there =D
]]>It was interesting information to me too when I went to read up on the reasons! Thank you Stella! Santorini is beckoning =D
]]>You must visit Santorini, Lottie! I’m looking to visit other Greek islands when I have a chance too! =)
]]>Thank you Sandy! It must be so wonderful to dock at Santorini and explore the island!
]]>Same here, it’s really a very beautiful city. I can’t wait to go back and check out other villages in Santorini too!
]]>The best part is, there are many stunning views across different areas of Santorini!
]]>Oia is the spots where we see all the postcards’ images from! Santorini off-season was a memorable trip, the only one issue to note is the less-than-ideal weather (a rainy Santorini is very possible). If you’re going, I hope for the best weather for you!

]]>Thank you Laura! I hope it inspires you to visit! π
]]>Hi Madeline! I was worried indeed but I too had to stay present and watch each step ahead of me, ha! The experience became a once-in-a-lifetime one! =D
]]>I’m really happy to see your comment, Cayce! Cos it means I managed to inspire wanderlust! ^^ Hope you can visit Nice one day in awesome weather! Really makes all the difference. Meanwhile, I will continue to dream about visiting NZ like you! =)
]]>Hi Lauren, thank you so much for the sweet compliments! I could not bear to leave Castle Hill myself (and Nice too, actually), it was too lovely!
]]>Hi Kelly, thank you for coming! Same as you, I loved walking around for long distances in Nice too! =)

]]>I know right, the sunsets there are just so special and gorgeous! =)
]]>Hi Sara! The weather really makes the difference indeed! =)
]]>Haha Cayce I had the same fear totally! But I have to cross if you’re going anywhere, it’s all roads out there. I was crying inside my head too when I first had to cross, but eventually you’ll get the hang of it! π
]]>Thank you so much for the compliment, Cayce! <3 The private yachts at Monaco are a crazy amount, so much wealth! I'll recommend coming by from Nice and do town-hopping along the way-- there're also many charming places to visit along the French Riviera such as Eze, Villefranche, Cannes (I didn't get to visit Cannes though), etc! Monaco will do for an evening out, hehe!
]]>Indeed, it was really hilarious! ^^ Definitely makes the trip even more memorable!
]]>The entire mood I felt since it was quite a creepy hotel room I was in. I didn’t finish the movie either, only let the show run by itself without actually watching it =)
